About Me

Here is who keeps me away from the golf course!

I picked up my first club before I could walk, shot my first sub par round aged three and by ten was hitting it on average 350 yards off the tee…..

Ok, that’s not quite right. Hi, my name is Nick and I really am just an average golfer. I can’t say I have ever played sub par (or even sub 80) golf. I hit it pretty far off the tee, usually into the trees or the water and the three putt is a pretty fair day at the office for me!

I started golfing more than 25 years ago when I was 12 or 13. I played semi-regularly until 18 or so and then didn’t look at a club in anger for the next twenty years. A couple of years ago, I bought a golf lesson as a birthday present for a sports-mads friend. I accompanied him and to cut a long story short, he didn’t carry on and I became addicted.

Now I am probably the typical average golfer in terms of my scores. I currently play off an 18 handicap but can happily go from birdie to triple bogey on one hole to the next. I do eat, sleep and breathe golf though (at least as much as I can with a wife and three kids!) I love trying out new equipment, changing grips and shafts, experimenting with different swings and training aids, and generally seeing what works in the wide world of golf.

I might be just an average golfer but I want to be that single figure player that knows where the ball is going most of the time. So I’ll be looking to share my opinions and successes (and failures) with all the other average golfers out there and maybe, who knows, we’ll all play just a little bit better. If you want to get in touch, either leave a comment here on the site or send me an ¬†Email to admin@justanaveragegolfer.com
